Meals On Wheels
SSM Health at Home’s Meals On Wheels program provides nutritious mid-day meals, Monday through Friday, to residents of Madison, Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie.
Each meal includes a protein, starch or bread, salad or vegetable, fruit or dessert, and a carton of milk or juice. All meals are low in sodium and can be prepared for the following diets:
- Vegetarian (no meat)
- Soft (ground meat)
The daily cost of a meal is $8.00. Funding is available in certain areas for those who qualify. Our Meals On Wheels program is supported with funds from Dane County Human Services, United Way of Dane County, and the Home Health United – Visiting Nurse Service.
Meal delivery can usually begin within 48-72 hours. Contact us at 608-276-7598 or MOW@hhuvns.org for more information.
All of our meals are delivered by a dedicated group of volunteers. Want to make a difference? Join our team today. Learn more.
More than a Meal
In addition to a meal, our volunteers provide a friendly smile and a safety check. In the event a recipient does not answer for their meal, volunteers are instructed to call the Meals On Wheels office. Our staff then attempts to contact the recipient and/or their emergency contact to verify everything is okay. If necessary, public safety officers may be contacted to do a safety check.
Frozen meals are perfect for new parents, elderly individuals, post-surgery patients, and current meal recipients who are not home to receive the noontime meal delivery or for dinner. The entree portion of the meals comes frozen. Frozen meals are still prepared by Market Street Diner and Bakery and are $8.00 each. Click here to view the meal options available, or call 608-276-7598 for more information or to order meals.
Blizzard meals are provided to recipients to ensure they are not left without their noontime meal in the case of severe winter weather that prevents volunteers from delivering the daily meal.
Our Meals On Wheels program is a proud member of Meals On Wheels America.
