Home Health United (HHU) announces they have become a national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in Collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. HHU has been providing home care and hospice services to the area for more than 25 years.
It may surprise people to learn that 25% of those who die every year in the US are Veterans. This partnership between HHU and We Honor Veterans will help provide care and support to local Veterans that reflect the important contributions made by these men and women.
As a We Honor Veterans partner, HHU will implement ongoing Veteran-centered education for staff and volunteers to help improve the care they provide to the Veterans they proudly serve. By recognizing the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans, HHU is better able to accompany and guide Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending.
But HHU is not limiting the program to just Veterans facing life-limiting illnesses. "While the We Honor Veterans program is typically for hospice, Home Health United is implementing the program across our home care and palliative care service lines as well," said Lynne Willer, HHU Vice President of Clinical Services. "Veterans being served anywhere in our organization deserve this specialized care and support."
The resources of We Honor Veterans focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgement, coupled with Veteran-centric education of health care staff and volunteers. To learn more about We Honor Veterans, visit WeHonorVeterans.org.
