Home Health United - Meals On Wheels Partners with Don Miller Subaru to Share the Love this Holiday Season

Subaru's Share the Love Event helps deliver nutritious meals and compassion to Madison, Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie's home bound and disabled.

Madison, WI (December 13, 2012) - Home Health United - Meals On Wheels is proud to announce it has partnered with Don Miller Subaru this holiday season to Stuff the Trunk. This local effort is part of the Meals On Wheels Association of America's (MOWAA) participation in the national Subaru of America, Inc. Share the Love Event.

Stuff the Trunk is a blanket drive to hopefully stuff several trunks of new Subaru vehicles with blankets to be delivered to Meals On Wheels recipients this holiday season. The drive takes place now through December 26th at Don Miller Subaru located at 5339 Wayne Terrace in Madison.

As one of the five Subaru Share the Love Event charitable partners, the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) is awarding $200,000 in Share the Love grants to local Meals On Wheels programs that partner with Subaru dealerships in the fight to end senior hunger. Home Health United - Meals On Wheels is eligible to win a MOWAA-Subaru Share the Love grant of up to $35,000 to help provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors in Madison, Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie.

We are honored to be part of 'Share the Love' for a fifth straight year, said MOWAA Interim CEO, Larry J. Tomayko. Subaru recognizes the importance of giving back to the communities it serves. Working together, MOWAA and Subaru are helping to provide more than just a meal; we're bringing warmth and compassion to so many hungry and homebound seniors who would otherwise go without.

The Subaru Share the Love Event runs from November 21, 2012 to January 2, 2013. Subaru is donating $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased during Share the Love to the customer's choice of one of five charities, including MOWAA. Over the past four years, proceeds from the Subaru Share the Love Event have provided funds to MOWAA to support its vision to end senior hunger by 2020.

HHU provides noontime meals to homebound and disabled individuals in Madison, Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie 365 days a year. All meals are delivered by dedicated volunteers and made fresh daily by Market Street Diner and Bakery in Sun Prairie. As an added bonus, Carl's Cakes provides a free cake to all recipients on their birthday. In 2011 alone, HHU delivered 76,180 meals.

In addition to Meals On Wheels, Home Health United provides a variety of services to patients and families across southern Wisconsin, including home health, hospice, home medical equipment, community health services, infusion pharmacy and immunization clinics.
