If a physician has ordered CPAP therapy for sleep apnea, HHU respiratory therapists function as a support person and liaison between the patient and physician. Therapists provide instruction on use and maintenance of CPAP and supplies. During the first month, HHU will call the patient weekly at no charge to discuss issues and answer questions.
The HHU staff want to help the patient find success with treatment for sleep apnea. To be successful, the patient will need to use the CPAP every night during sleep. We recognize that it could take time to get used to this, but with skilled mask fitting, proper maintenance and the support of the HHU respiratory specialist, the patient will enjoy the full benefits of treatment.
